      Romania's Plans for Europe

The Edinburgh University European Union Society and Romanian Society are proud to invite you to the talk by H.E Ambassador of Romania to the UK Dan Mihalache. He will talk about the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, relations between Bucharest and Brussels and the future of European Union.  Undoubtedly, Romania hosts Presidency over the Council of the EU in one of the most interesting periods in the history of the EU. Europe has just left the Great Recession and ended the "Refugee Crisis". It still experiences a strong support for the Eurosceptic and anti-establishment movements across the continent. Moreover, the UK, a home a large number of Romanian citizens, is about to leave the Union while North Macedonia and Ukraine are trying to join it. Come and listen an experienced politician speak about the future of the EU and Romania.  H.E Dan Mihalache has impressive experience. He has broad political experience, having led numerous political, policy and communications campaigns on behalf of the National Liberal Party (between 2009 and 2014) and President Iohannis in 2014. Not only did Mr Mihalache serve a complete term as Member of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, but also he held a seat as Observer and then as Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Furthermore, Mr. Mihalache’s prior public positions have included Secretary General of the Romanian Senate (2013-2014), Deputy Secretary General of the Romanian Government (2012), Adviser to the Romanian Prime Minister (2001-2004). He is, undoubtedly, a really experienced politician. The event will include a 20 minutes talk given by Mr Mihalache, followed by a 30 minutes Q&A session.  The talked will be chaired by: Robert Jacek Włodarki - Edinburgh University European Union Society President Vali Dragan - Romanian Society Vice-President  If you have any questions about the event and accessibility, feel free to write to
