      What a performance! Preserving a giant pop-up book at the National Library of Scotland

      What a performance! Preserving a giant pop-up book at the National Library of Scotland Tuesday 29 January, 2pm      Conservator Shona Hunter discusses the conservation, exhibition and 3D modelling of the original “scenery” for John McGrath’s play “The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil”. The play tells the story of Scotland’s social and economic history, from the Highland Clearances to the discovery of North Sea Oil. Devised as a giant pop-up book, the stage-set was created by contemporary Scottish artist John Byrne is made of corrugated cardboard. Come along and find out more about Scotland’s largest book, including its creation, repair, display and digitisation.
