      Outnumbered: exploring the algorithms that control your life

      To celebrate its move into the Bayes Centre, the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) is hosting three public lectures on the first Tuesday of the months of February, March and April 2019. On Tuesday 2 April 2019, David Sumpter,  (University of Uppsala) will give a public lecture entitled Outnumbered: exploring the algorithms that control your life Doors Open: 5.40pm. Talk starts at 6pm. All ticket holders are invited to a reception after the talk in the atrium of the Bayes Building. David Sumpter is Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Uppsala, Sweden.  His research covers everything from the inner workings of fish school and ant colonies, through social psychology and segretation in society, to machine learning and artificial intelligence.  David has written two popular science books, Soccermatics (Bloomsbury, 2016) and Outnumbered (Bloomsbury, 2018) Future ICMS EventsYou can subscribe to the ICMS Public Events mailing list (maintained on MailChimp) - via this link, http://eepurl.com/drMVmj
